摘要
Situated in the northern part of Iloilo, San Rafael, a 5th class municipality with a population of 19,254, remains a relatively undiscovered gem despite its captivating beauty and historical heritage. This study explores the potential of promoting San Rafael as a secret gateway to Central and Northern Iloilo through it’s geographical, environmental and historical aspect, analyzing its untouched tourism resources, including natural attractions and historical landmarks. The research underscores the economic benefits of increased tourism, emphasizing job creation, local business stimulation, and economic growth. While recognizing the need for responsible tourism practices, the study proposes collaboration between the government, stakeholders, and residents to develop a sustainable tourism plan. Positioned strategically, San Rafael has the potential to become a hub for commerce, trade, and travel, contributing to the region's overall development. The findings suggest that promoting San Rafael as a secret gateway can diversify tourism offerings, attracting both domestic and international tourists seeking authentic experiences. Furthermore, San Rafael's strategic location suggests it could become a center for commerce, trade, and travel in Central and Northern Iloilo. With its geographical, environmental and historical value, it could serve as an excellent starting point for tourists exploring the region. By promoting San Rafael as a secret gateway, there is an opportunity to showcase hidden gems, diversify tourism offerings, and attract both domestic and international tourists seeking authentic experiences.
