Abstract
This research looks at the participation of tourism stakeholders and their perceived quality of life related to heritage conservation in Miagao, Iloilo, focusing on the town's cultural significance. The study utilizes a quantitative, descriptive-correlational design to determine demographic factors that influence stakeholder participation and quality of life concerning heritage preservation. 200 tourism stakeholders were selected using quota sampling techniques. Data was gathered using a researcher-administered questionnaire with face-to-face surveys. The results indicate that stakeholders, in general, perceive a very high quality of life, and the highest ratings are found among females, older people, higher educational attainment, and long-term residents. Moreover, local government units and NGOs have a better perceived quality of life compared to the business sector. Involvement in heritage conservation was the highest out of all stakeholder groups, with the participation of female, older, married, and NGO stakeholders being the most significant. Perceived quality of life and involvement significantly varies according to sex, marital status, and stakeholder type but shows little impact from age, education, and residence tenure. The study revealed a strong, positive relationship between quality of life and involvement, which means that as the quality of life of stakeholders improves, their involvement in conservation efforts increases. These results emphasize the importance of community participation in heritage conservation and highlight the need for targeted initiatives to enhance involvement, especially in areas like technical engagement, fundraising, and advocacy. This research contributes valuable insights for enhancing heritage preservation strategies and fostering sustainable tourism development in Miagao, Iloilo.
