Abstract
This is an explanatory research study designed to determine the perception of the selected Central Philippine University College of Arts and Sciences Faculty about the value of the Internet as their teaching resource. Specifically, the study answered the following objectives (1) determine the profile of selected College of Arts and Sciences Faculty in terms of age, sex, number of years in teaching and educational level, and (2) determine the value o f the Internet in terms of advantages and disadvantages.
This research study used a validated researcher-made-questionnaire as its instrument and survey as its method. For respondent’s demographic features it was concluded that (1) most o f the respondents were between 30 to 35 years old, (2) majority of the respondents were females, (3) majority of the respondents attained their master’s degree, (4) most of the respondents were teaching 11-15 years, (5) majority of the respondents found the Internet to be very advantageous as a teaching resource.
The research study revealed after the conduct of the survey that the randomly selected teachers of College of Arts and Sciences, were found that (1) for age, none of the respondents is below 30 years old, 9 were 30-35 years old, 7 were 41-45 years old, 4 were 36-40 years old, 3 each were 51-60 years old and 61-65 years old respectively, and 2 were 46-50 years old, (2) for gender, 8 were male and 20 were female, (3) for number of years in teaching, none of the respondents have taught in Central Philippine University for a less than a year, for the bracket, there were three (3) respondents for each bracket 1-5 years, 6-10 years, 16-20 years, 21-25 years, and 31 years and above in teaching respectively, while only one (1) has taught in Central Philippine University for 26-30 years, (4) for educational level, 18 attained their master’s degree, 8 attained their bachelor’s degree while 2 attained their doctorate degree, (5) for perceived value of internet, 18 of the total population believe that the value o f internet is very advantageous for subject matter, 14 o f the total population believe that the value o f internet is slightly advantageous for lesson planning, 13 of the total population believe that the value of internet is very advantageous for maps, 11 of the total population believe that the value of internet is very advantageous for chats, 22 o f the total population believe that the value of internet is very advantageous for visual aids, 20 of the total population believe that the value of internet is very advantageous for powerpoint, 14 of the total population believe that the value o f internet is very advantageous for reporting, 11 of the total population believe that the value o f internet is very advantageous for interactive discussion using the internet and 18 of the total population believe that the value of internet is very advantageous for online assignment.
