Abstract
This survey was conducted in order to determine the profile of the students of Central Philippine University for the second semester of SY 2003-2004. This study was descriptive in nature and employed the survey approach. Considering the big number of students at CPU, stratified sampling was adopted. Data were collected through the administration of a structured interview questionnaire, which was prepared by the University Research Committee of the University Research Center. The questionnaire generated the following information about the student: (a) personal details, (b) household information, and (c) housing/sanitation characteristics. The study found that students of CPU are ages 11 to 20, female, single, Catholic by religion, residents of the city and province of Iloilo and the neighboring provinces, and belong to a family with 4 to 6 members. The respondents’ parents attained college education, with two family members who are working, and having a monthly family income of P25,000. They own basic home appliances and even vehicles. They own the house they are occupying with cement flooring and GI or aluminum roofing materials, with tile or concrete material for house walls. They use electricity for their lighting and LPG as their fuel for cooking. NAWASA/MIWD and deep well are their sources of water for drinking and household use.
