dc.description.abstract | Poultry products and by-products are considered as the most consumed meat products in the world. One of the best sources of protein can be found in the poultry meat. The objective of this study was to determine the ileal digestibility of the non-fermented CPU feeds with methionine at their active reproductive age. This study was conducted on December 4, 2017 to March 8, 2018 at the Central Philippine University College of Agriculture, Resources, and Environmental Sciences (CPU-CARES) Research Building. A sample of non-fermented CPU breeder feeds was sent to the University of the Philippines Visayas- College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, Institute of Aquaculture Analytical Laboratory for amino acid analysis. Forty, 6-to 7-month old chickens were housed in their cages provided with an area of 0.15m2 per bird. The birds were fed with the experimental diet for 4 days and fasted for 24 hours on the fifth day. The digesta was collected then oven-dried at 60°C until it was fully dried and then it was sent to UP-Miagao to be analyzed. The results show that in the essential amino acid profile, only phenylalanine (106.7%), leucine (1%), histidine (21.66), and lysine (36.36%) have values while the rest have no amino acid digestibility values. As to the non-essential amino acid profile, only the glutamic acid (1%) and arginine (5.8%) have values; the rest have none. These results show that the value of both essential and non-essential amino acids are low. The lower amino acid percentage and a low percent of protein indicate that the birds synthesized only a small amount of protein in their body. | en_US |
