摘要
This study was conducted to develop an instructional video on basic skills in Arnis for grade 7 learners for the school year 2023-24. Specifically, it aimed to determine the challenges of teachers in teaching Arnis, the techniques, and strategies in teaching Arnis to Grade 7 learners, develop an instructional video in teaching Arnis, and evaluate the developed instructional video. Based on the findings, Arnis experts are facing classroom management difficulties, time management difficulties, poor communication due to a slow internet connection, and quality of learning materials to ensure that all the athletes have the same level of knowledge and skills in Arnis. Experts are putting in more effort by communicating openly with athletes on online platforms and uploading Arnis modules and videos in advance. Instructional videos are very effective for teaching Arnis, and helping athletes understand the proper execution of techniques. However, athletes face penalties for not attending virtual training sessions, as they are responsible for improving their skills for upcoming tournaments. While the instructional videos are effective, athletes find them similar to other videos they have seen. The researchers recommend that the instructional videos be made more interesting and creative to engage viewers better. Adding more videos on different Arnis topics, such as various actions, counterattacks, and strategies is proposed. Also, conducting more research on teaching Arnis is suggested.
