摘要
This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of animated short stories in enhancing students’ inferential comprehension skills. A purposive sampling of 30 grade 7 students from a public high school in the province of Iloilo during the academic year 2023-2024 was selected. The instruments used included lesson plans, two short stories, two animated short stories, and questionnaires. The study employed a pre-experimental research design in which one class section was tested twice, before and after the intervention of animated short stories, to assess the effectiveness of animated short stories in enhancing students’ inferential comprehension skills. The data were analyzed using the mean score for descriptive statistics and Wilcoxon rank test to determine the significant enhancement in students’ inferential comprehension skills. The findings before the intervention revealed that most students were categorized at the instructional level, indicating that they have prior knowledge to understand clues and draw conclusions. Conversely, the results after the intervention demonstrated that students’ inferential comprehension skills had improved to independent level, with almost all students able to infer accurately with ease.
