Factors influencing academic success of senior students in the College of Law of a selected school in Iloilo City
Abstract
This is a content analysis study conducted to determine the factors which lead to the academic success of law students. It specifically sought to determine, the reasons which influence the passing and failing grades of law students. Whether or not civil status, age, study habits and occupation affect their academic performance.
This study applied quantitative research design, which utilized survey methods in obtaining information from senior law students of Central Philippine University. The survey method is useful in obtaining the factors which influence students in their academic success in law school. This is applicable in gathering data on each respondents, a fast and inexpensive means.
Among the noted unfavorable study habits were inefficient time management, lack of planning and concentration in their studies, lack of material time in reading and failure to inform their teachers of their difficulties in understanding Law. Further analysis revealed that the study habits of the respondents were correlated with their success in law school. This connotes that students who have favorable study habits will likely pass the Bar Examination.
