Pastoral significance of John 10:1-18 metaphors used as titles by Jesus to personally but partly describe himself constitute the vortex of this study. The depth alluded to by the metaphors Gate and Good Shepherd is extensively absorbing that a special paper alone could not contain all much more so with the Johannine materials that have engrossed scholars for its salient features compared to the Synoptic accounts. It is almost a common impression that the message “I am the Gate... I am the Good Shepherd” from this passage in John provides the differentiation between who is true and not true shepherd of the flock as characterized by the attitude of Jesus against the attitude of the hired ones. And the flock refers to a group who has made the decision to listen and follow the Lord being the ideal leader of the sheep. The consequent significance would be that the true pastor whose model is the Good Shepherd should also lead the group of believers who made the decision in accepting the Lordship and Saviorship of Christ.
