Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the level of knowledge about marine conservation and marine conservation practices of households along coastal areas of Manapla, Negros Occidental. The one-shot survey design using a researcher made questionnaire was used in gathering data needed from 300 respondents. All data were processed and analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Descriptive statistics like frequency and percentage distribution and inferential statistics like Chisquare test were used in data analysis. Results revealed that the respondents were generally 31 to 45 years of age, married, Roman Catholic, with high school level of education, fisherman and had PHP10,000 and below income. The respondents have high level of knowledge and high level of practices about marine conservation. There was significant relationship between knowledge and educational attainment but there were no significant relationships between knowledge and age, civil status, religion, occupation and income. There were significant relationship in their practice and education, civil status, occupation and income but there were no significant relationships between practice and age and religion. A significant relationship was found between the knowledge about marine conservation and marine conservation practices of households along coastal area of Manapla, Negros Occidental.
