Abstract
The title of the study is “A biblico -theological Study of Vandalism and its Impact”. The study is mainly comparative of what is biblically good and destructive in man continuous with the existential construct about vandalism. Descriptive and analytical approaches were employed in the use of Focus Group Discussion (FGD) method among the students, Guidance Counselors and Values Education Teachers. This is an in-depth biblico— theological study and framework, understanding and retracing the root of vandalism with relations to what is originally good and its consequent destructiveness as to its origin, distortion, possible restoration; its redemptive scheme to be embedded in the academic functionaries reaching out to families, school, churches; and its possible reconstructive solutions. The study aimed to come up with significant biblico-theological knowledge; a positive feeling of attachment to do what is right and provide doable recommendations meaningfully consistent with the University’s commitment to “Scientia et Fides” and essential to the curbing down of vandalism in the campus. The findings were as follows: vandalism as a way of expression like pleasures, pent-up emotions triggered by family problems, rebellion and freedom usually influenced by peer pressures. Vandalism is done for the sake of enjoyment, act of “word war” against the enemy group and an act of teasing. This led to conflicting findings such as happiness and guilt, gaining pride but bad feeling for having brought shame to parents.
