Perception of radio reporters and announcers in Iloilo City on media killings in the Philippines

This is an exploratory research designed to determine the perception of radio reporters and announcers in Iloilo City on factors associated to media killings in the Philippines. Specially, the study answered the following objectives (1) determine the demographic profile of the respondents and (2) determine the perception of the respondents on the various factors why media killings exist in the country.
With survey as its method and a validated researcher-made questionnaire as its instruments, it was concluded that (1) majority of the respondents were male with 66.67%, (2) most of the respondents belong to age group 21 to 30 years old with 43.33%, (3) most of the respondents worked for DYOK, DYRI and DYSI with 23.33% each, (4) majority of the respondents served both as announcers and reporters with 56.67%, (5) most of the respondents served the industry for more than ten years with 40%, (6) half of the respondents agreed that media killings exist due to conflict of duty between the government and journalist with 50%, (7) most of the respondents agreed and were neutral that media killings exist due to misuse or abuse of power of press with 33.33% each (8) most of the respondents strongly agreed that media killings exist due to absence or lack of laws protecting the press with 43.33%, (9) half of the respondents strongly agreed that media killings exist due to the ineffectiveness of government's task force on media killings with 33.33% and (10) almost half of the respondents strongly agreed that media killings exist due to the poor or slow justice system in the country with 46.67%.
