Abstract
This experimental study aimed to investigate the effect of video simulation on the performance in physics of Grade 10 students in a national high school in the school year 2016-2017. Twenty students were exposed to the video simulation method and the same number of students was exposed to the lecture discussion method. The assignment as to what group was subjected to the video simulation group or to the lecture discussion group was done randomly.
A 50-item teacher- made test was used to determine students' performance in Physics. The topics covered were kinematics, forces, dynamics, and friction. Data obtained through the performance test were analyzed using t-tests for dependent samples and independent samples. Findings revealed that after the intervention, students exposed to the video simulation teaching method significantly scored better compared to those exposed to the lecture discussion method. This implies that the use of video simulations is more effective compared to the lecture discussion method.
