Abstract
This study analyzed a novel by Antoine De Saint-Exupery, entitled The Little Prince, using content analysis as a method to identify a character’s behavioral responses to communications and provide insight to how Enlightenment is achieve. The objectives are to specify the enlightenments of the Little Prince through his journey and the symbolisms present in the novel and its meaning. The researcher used the Psychological Approach to analyze the factors that affects the development and behavioral growth of the little prince. Another additional theory used was the Symbolism theory in figuring out the meaning of the symbols found in the novel and its contribution in knowing further the connection that leads to little prince’s enlightenment throughout his journey. The theories have reciprocal relation because all the events happening in the novel and the social interactions of the main character to these minor characters or symbols has given results to how the mind of the protagonist understand the given situations and how he was able reflect on it and made changes to his developmental and behavioral growth. It is recommended that a thorough discussion of the characters’ background, personality, environment and the other elements such as settings, plot and themes should be further scrutinized in the study.
