Abstract
This study aimed to compare and contrast the 1950 C.S. Lewis novel, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and its 2005 movie adaptation directed by Andrew Adamson in terms of the plot, characters, setting, theme, conflict and point of view. Specifically, it sought to identify the similarities and differences of the chosen literary source and its movie adaptation, and the extent of alterations present in the film in terms of plot, character, setting, theme, conflict and point of view. Content analysis design was used to analyze the objectives of the study and the formalistic theory was used to dissect the elements of novel in the chosen literary piece. It was found out that the movie made minor alterations, despite that, it remained faithful to its literary source.
