This study investigated the parental preference among work students duly enrolled under the College of Arts and Sciences, and surveyed their demographic features and parental influences. The research also determined if the variables have relationships with their parental choice. The questions were answered through a 30 item questionnaire. Fifty-one work students were able to participate in the research. The results show that most of the work students enrolled under the College of Arts and Sciences are females and of age 18. They have simple and basic family structures with parents who are sufficiently educated and are affiliated with the Roman Catholic faith. In terms of relationship, none of the demographic variables are significantly related to parental preference. Social influences have no significant relationship with parental preference. The same results were found when parental preference was correlated with business skills and political and civic welfare. The results show that most of the work students prefer their mothers over their fathers. In conclusion, more females are interested to apply as work students in college. Many are able to decide on their own when it comes to making a decision in any situation. Many are independent and are able on stand on their own with less parental involvement.
