dc.description.abstractThe education imparted to the student today is based on the lecture being done by the faculty and the laboratory work undertaken by the students with the teacher doing the supervision of the laboratory work. The objective of laboratory work is to bridge the gap between the theory taught in the classroom and the actual practice in the field. At present students are not inclined or motivated to learn from the laboratory work because of lack of space, equipment and competent teacher. The open laboratory concept requires each student to actually perform the laboratory work any time the laboratory is open. In doing this the student will have to learn since they individually have to undertake the laboratory exercise and will be checked by the teacher. The open laboratory may require additional personnel space and equipment but if it will be implemented it will result in students learning more from the laboratory work.en_US
