Résumé
This quantitative-descriptive-correlational research sought to determine the level of performance of Lupon Members under the Barangay Justice System as perceived by the constituents of selected barangays in the Municipality of Badiangan, Iloilo. Specifically, this study aimed to: describe the profile of the respondents as to age, sex, civil status, educational attainment and occupation; determine the level of performance of the Lupon members as perceived by the respondents in terms of Knowledge, Systematic Procedures, Decision Making and Interpersonal Skills; determine if there is a significant difference in the level of performance of the Lupon members as perceived by the respondents when classified according to age, sex, civil status, educational attainment and occupation. The subjects of this study were the 128 constituents of selected barangays in the Municipality of Badiangan, Iloilo. Respondents were the complainants and respondents of complaints filed within the chosen barangays. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences software (SPSS) was employed using frequency, mean percentage and standard deviation for descriptive data and z-test to measure significant differences between selected variables at 0.05 level of significance.

The study found out that, on the whole, the respondents’ perceived level of performance of their Lupon Members was “Outstanding”. Similarly, when the Lupon’s level of performance was measured in terms of their Knowledge, Systematic Procedures, Decision Making and Interpersonal Skills, respondents' still rated their Lupon’s performance as “Outstanding”. This finding suggests that the Lupon members were able to efficiently and effectively perform their duties and roles as expected by their constituents.

The study also found out that there is no significant difference in the respondents’ perception of the level of performance among Lupon members when categorized according to sex, age, civil status, educational attainment and occupation.

The findings conclude that the policy implication is positive within the communities. It can also be gathered that through these results, the possibility of enhancing these kinds of justice system within the barangay itself can help reduce backlog cases that are filed in actual courts. The conduct of this study provided new basis in pursuing other research perspectives. Furthermore, it enabled to hone the interest of future researchers to strengthen and improve the barangay justice system and performance of Lupon Members.
