A bio-bibliography of selected Panayanon writers
요약
Inadequate bibliographic materials is one of the problems that confront the present Philippine libraries. Bibliographic materials are indispensable tools of researchers, professors, scholars, and students. With these tools they can be guided to the knowledge of the existence of rich literary works of the past and of the present: a heritage that must be preserved for posterity.
The compilation of this bio-bibliographic study on selected Panayanon writers was started in 1971 and completed November, 1976.
Statement of the Problem
The researcher who wishes to work on Panayanon literature finds it difficult to know what materials are available for lack of bibliographies. Panayanon writers are numerous and their works have been published in books, pamphlets, and periodical literature. Some published materials of major writers are listed in the Union Catalog of Philippine Materials, Filipiniana 1968, Classified List of Filipiniana Holdings of the Ayala y Compania Library, and other general Philippine bibliographies but the great bulk of the works that existed in the past and in the present times are not included in these bibliographies and are still unknown to the country and to the world. No bibliography has been done on Panayanon writers so far and since many of the writers are not known, there is a need to include biographical data of each author.
Purpose of the Study
The purpose of this study is to provide a biobibliography of selected Panayanon writers. A short biographical sketch will introduce the writers as well as provide a background to the works listed in this study The writer has attempted to include annotations of prominent works of some of the authors.
