dc.description.abstract | To examine the construction business in Boracay Island in terms of Local Ordinances if they conform to the National Building Code (NBC) and National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP), the documents containing local ordinances for construction had been collected from LGU of Malay and a copy of NBC and NSCP from the researcher. In order to describe the current practices of the contractors whether they have complied the ordinances or the NBC and NSCP, certain activity like interview, ocular inspection, document acquisition, had been conducted. Documents and other requirements for the acquisition of building permit were taken from the LGU of Malay, and DENR. Information on sources of manpower, materials, equipment, compensation of workers, construction methodology, monitoring and inspection of projects, were gathered through site visit and interview with the building owners, contractors, workers and building inspectors. In order to determine problems and issues encountered by the contractors and the building owners, verbal interview were conducted. Current ordinances conflicts or varies with the NBC and NSCP. Procurement of construction permits are violated because of time constraints due to bureaucracies and separate offices. The good construction management, methods and strategies are very important because of the constraints of supply on materials and manpower in Boracay Island. | en_US |
