dc.description.abstractThis paper determines the issues and concerns of solo parents in Pilar, Capiz. This is a descriptive correlation research study. The issues and concerns of solo parents were categorized into four major factors; the economic, children, personal and social factors. Data were collected from 264 respondents using complete enumeration and an interview schedule. SPSS was used in data processing and analysis using frequency and mean for the descriptive analysis and Chi-square test for the inferential analysis. Results revealed that the solo parents were 30 years old and below, Catholic, have 1 to 2 number of children, high school graduate, employed as employees, earning PhP5,000 and below, living alone, solo parent due to death of their husband, not receiving any support, and receiving not more than PhP5,000 amount of support per month. They have high extent of economic issues and concerns, high extent of children issues and concern, moderate extent of personal issues and concerns, moderate extent of social issues and concern and had children as the major issue and concern. The solo parents’ extent of economic issues and concern was significantly related to their religion, number of children, educational attainment, occupation, monthly income, and source of support. Extent of children issues and concern was significantly related to their educational attainment, occupational status, monthly income, source of support and amount of support received. Extent of social issues and concern was significantly related to their number of children and living arrangement. The major issues and concern of the solo parents was significantly related to their number of children, educational attainment, occupation, monthly income and circumstances as solo parent.en_US
