Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the level of knowledge about solid waste management and the solid waste management practices of the households in a private subdivision in Pavia, Iloilo. The one-shot survey design was used in gathering data from 313 respondents using a researcher-made interview schedule. Data were processed and analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22. The respondents were generally aged 31 to 40 years, house owners, married, females, college graduates, professional workers, earned an average income of PHP 10,000 to PHP20,000, have a PHP40,001 to PHP60,000 household monthly income and have 4 to 6 members in the household. They have high level of knowledge about solid waste management and moderate level of practices on solid waste management. There were significant differences in knowledge about solid waste management according to respondents’ ownership status, occupation and monthly income. There was significant difference in solid waste management practices according to respondents’ educational attainment. Knowledge about solid waste management was significantly related to solid waste management practices.
