Design, fabrication, and testing of a bagging machine for the existing biomass fired batch type grains dryer in Barangay Badiangan, Ajuy, Iloilo
Abstract
Agricultural production such as corn has been one of the most abundant crops in the Philippines. Corn has become the most abundant crop of Brgy. Badiangan Ajuy. The specified barangay Badiangan is a beneficiary barangay of Central Philippine University - College of Engineering. The researchers aim to design, fabricate, and test a bagging machine to replace the manual bagging into an automatic grain bagging process of the existing biomass fired batch type flat-bed dryer in Barangay Badiangan, Ajuy, Iloilo. The researchers designed and fabricated a bagging machine using the suction created by a centrifugal blower for its conveying mechanism. The conveyed corn carried by the air suction produced by the blower is separated from the air in the cyclone separator using the principle of pressure difference which acts as density separation. The corn collected inside the cyclone separator is then bagged by the operators. The motor used for the machine produce a power output lesser than the calculated power due to financial constraints and the availability of electric motor that can produce the required power. The results of the testing showed that 1 sack of corn averages 5 minutes and 20 seconds to be bagged.
