Abstract
This study focuses on simplifying trip planning challenges, leading to the development of Destamp, an innovative mobile application designed to streamline travel planning specifically for Iloilo City. The app incorporates features such as itinerary generation, personalized recommendations, and budget tracking, offering substantial benefits not only to travelers but also to local residents, tourist destinations, and business operators. Developed through a user-centered Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), the initial phase involved market validation and surveys to better understand the needs of potential users. A survey conducted from July 17 to July 31, 2023, with 319 participants aged 18 to 60, revealed that 47% lacked knowledge in creating itineraries, 54% relied on self-research and booking, 31% spent a day or more planning trips, 68% researched travel routes before departure, 84% considered budget a significant factor, and 76% emphasized the importance of staying within budget. Data collection from various sources, including a Google Maps scraper, provided comprehensive information on tourist destinations and businesses in Iloilo City, enhancing user experience within the app. Additionally, the app employs a freemium model, allowing both free and premium users access to its features to meet diverse user needs. Powered by advanced methodologies, Destamp utilizes Genetic Algorithms to optimize itinerary generation, content-based filtering for personalized recommendations, and the Mapbox platform for enhanced mapping capabilities, all implemented within a React Native framework to ensure a seamless user experience. Overall, Destamp offers a comprehensive solution to the complexities of travel planning, combining a well-defined methodology, inclusive business model, and advanced technology to transform the way individuals plan and experience trips in Iloilo City.
