Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the level of knowledge about marine conservation and marine conservation practices of households along coastal area of Guimbal, Iloilo. The one shot survey design using a researcher made questionnaire was used in gathering data needed from 147 respondents. All data were processed and analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Descriptive statistics like frequency and percentage distribution and inferential statistics like t-test, analysis of variance and Chi-square test were used in data analysis interpretation. Results revealed that the respondents were generally married, not more than 51-60 years of age and high school graduates. Most of them are housekeepers with and no occupation and no monthly income. The respondents have high level of knowledge but low level of practice. There was no significant difference in knowledge score of respondents when they were grouped according to their personal profile. There was significant difference in the mean practice score when they were classified into their educational attainment but there were no significant differences in practice when they grouped according to their age, civil status, religion, occupation and income. A significant relationship was found between the knowledge about marine conservation and marine conservation practices of households along coastal area of Guimbal, Iloilo.
