Abstract
Onion (Allium cepa) is a well-known common vegetable that is consumed widely throughout the nation due to its importance in world cuisine and its versatility as an ingredient. The study highlighted the importance of improving agricultural production to contribute to food security and the national economy. The researcher surveyed 101 respondents in three major onion producing barangays in the Municipality of Miagao, specifically in Brgy. Bagumbayan, Brgy. Durog, and Brgy. Dawog. The annual onion production in these areas are 31,300 kg, 71,700 kg, and 68,900 kg, respectively. Geographic Information System was utilized to support onion production in Miagao, Iloilo, contributing to the development of more precise and sustainable agricultural practices. The locations of onion plantations were validated by capturing geocoded addresses using Geocamera and processed the geographical metadata through GeoSetter. Then, Google Earth Pro was used to define boundaries while ArcGIS was utilized for analyzing and creating maps. Through spatial pattern distribution analysis, the study found that onion plantation areas in Miagao, Iloilo are clustered.
