| dc.description.abstract | The study examined the relationship between homophily and academic satisfaction among 160 Dean's List students from the College of Arts and Sciences at Central Philippine University, Iloilo City, the 2nd Semester of the Academic Year 2022- 2023. Participants were selected through purposive sampling. Quantitative data were collected using an online survey, including (1) the Homophily Scale and (2) the Academic Life Satisfaction Scale. The data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive analysis included (1) Percentage and Frequency Distribution, as well as (2) Mean and Standard Deviation. Inferential analysis involved the (1) Mann-Whitney U test for sex, (2) Kruskal-Wallis test for course and friendship, and (3) Post Hoc Analysis. Spearman Rho was used to analyze the correlation between Homophily and Academic Satisfaction. Most of the respondents were females, are BS Psychology students, and have friendships lasting over a year. Results showed high levels of homophily and academic satisfaction across sex, course, and friendship duration. While gender differences in homophily were insignificant, course and friendship duration were significant. Demographic profiles did not affect satisfaction levels. A significant relationship was found between homophily and academic satisfaction among dean's listers. | en_US |
