A study on the knowledge and practices about mangrove conservation among residents of Poblacion Anini-y, Antique
Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the knowledge about mangrove and mangrove conservation and the mangrove conservation related practices of residents of Poblacion Anini-y, Antique. A one shot survey design was used and data were gathered from 109 respondents in Poblacion, Anini-y, Antique. Results revealed that the respondents in this study were generally in their middle-ages, females, and Roman Catholic who are high school educated and self-employed. They generally have a high level of knowledge about mangrove and mangrove conservation and a positive dominant mangrove conservation related practices. Differences in the education and age of the respondents resulted in statistically significant variations in the mean knowledge scores of the respondents about mangrove and mangrove conservation. The personal characteristics of the respondents have nothing to do with the positive mangrove conservation related practices of the respondents. The respondents’ mangrove conservation related practices is related to their knowledge about mangrove and mangrove conservation.
