dc.description.abstractThis study was conducted to determine the level of knowledge and solid waste management practices among vendors of Dancalan, Ilog Negros Occidental. The one-shot survey design using a researcher-made questionnaire was used in gathering data needed from 115 public market vendors. All data were processed and analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Descriptive statistics like frequency and percentage distribution and inferential statistics like t-test, Analysis of Variance and Chi-square test were used in data analysis and interpretation. Results revealed that the market vendors were generally married females, not more than 40 years of age and college graduates. They had a capital investment of not more than PhP 10,000, a monthly income of not more than PhP 5,000; were into grocery store and have been in a business as public market vendor for not more than 5 years. The market vendors have moderate to high level of knowledge on solid waste management ordinance and moderate level of practice. There was significant difference in knowledge on the solid waste management ordinance when the vendors were grouped according to their educational attainment, capital investment and monthly income. There was significant difference in the mean practices score of the respondents when they were classified according to their civil status but there were no significant differences in practices score when they were grouped according to their age, gender and educational attainment, capital investment, monthly income, types of business and number of years in business. There was no significant relationship between knowledge about solid waste management and solid waste management practices among public market vendors of Dancalan, Ilog.en_US
