Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the level of knowledge about solid waste and solid waste management practices among households of Dayot and V.L. Subdivision, Iloilo City. The one shot-survey design was used in gathering data from 100 households of the subdivisions using a researcher-made interview schedule. All data were processed and analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Descriptive statistics like frequency and percentage distribution and inferential statistics like Chi-square test was used in data analysis and interpretation. The respondents were females, below 50 years old, college educated, self-employed/housewives, and earned below PhP5, 000. The respondents had high level of knowledge and moderate solid waste management practices. The age, address, status, educational attainment, total household monthly income, and household size had no significant relationship to knowledge about solid waste management, but the occupation and monthly income of the respondents were significantly related. The, age, address, status, educational attainment, occupation, and monthly income, total household monthly income, number of household members had no significant relationship to solid waste management practices. The knowledge about solid waste management was not significantly related to solid waste management practices.
