Abstract
The analysis of the selected works of Connie Mason used the two novels namely: Gunslinger which was published by Dorchester Publishers and was copyrighted in 1999 and Surrender to the Fury which was also published by Dorchester Publishers and was copyrighted in 1992. The content of the novels were analyzed based on the elements such as: characters, setting, conflict, and themes. Based on the results, Gunslinger and Surrender to the Fury presented characters that are purely created by the imagination or pure fantasy. The main characters were brave, loving, and powerful. As regards the setting, the general actions happened in the rural areas of Texas and Atlanta Georgia, which greatly allowed for the development of the main characters. Man vs. man or physical conflict is the dominant struggle in both stories. The leading character in each novel struggled with their physical strength against other men. Lastly, rage or fury that would lead to killing or terminating another life was also emphasized in both stories as the universal truth. It is recommended that examining the literary elements such as: character, setting, conflict, and theme contribute to a meaningful analysis of the novels which could be useful for literary or creative classes.
