Abstract
This research study analyzed and compared the two books, Elantris and Mistborn, by Brandon Sanderson. The similarities and differences were identified specifically the plot, characters, conflict, setting, genre, and theme. As to the similarities, the setting of the two books was in the city and the genre was also the same, epic and high fantasy; moreover, in terms of theme, both books had something in common like religion, politics, and war. However, for Elantris, Sanderson added leadership and family while in Mistborn, he also added rebellion, power, and trust. On the other hand, in terms of plot, conflict, and characters, they differed from each other. It is recommended that book enthusiasts should read this epic fantasy since the story is so deep that different readers are going to come away from it with different impression, the characters or the magic system that enthrals some, other will love the physiological and philosophical elements.
