Abstract
This study aimed to determine knowledge of Shakespeare and his works among fourth year and fifth year Software Engineering students in Central Philippine University. It also investigated the demographic features and the reading habits of the respondents and their parents’ reading habit. Only selected variables such as knowledge about Shakespeare, his plays, sonnets, and the value of these works were considered. The target sample size was 52 students and they all participated. To accomplish this survey, a one shot questionnaire with two parts was used. The findings reveal that majority of the students are males, 20 years old, Catholics, and have graduated from regular high school. They live with 5 family members including parents in a one family unit and have PhP50,000.00 and above monthly income. They enjoy playing games during their free time, most of their parents also enjoy watching TV and family time. They read at least four and more books in a year, have heard or have knowledge about Shakespeare but do not have knowledge on Shakespeare’s popular works. Thus, they have a low knowledge of Shakespeare and his works.
