Abstract
This study investigated the romantic relationships of all the 45 college residents of Weston Hall Ladies Dormitory of Central Philippine University who are currently in such relationships. It surveyed their demographic features like age, college, year level, religious affiliation, family size, family unit, location of residents, monthly family income and parents’ occupation, characteristics of relationship like length, current age and educational level of partner, and frequency of dating, their limitations and prohibitions when it comes to relationships like family acceptance and awareness of the relationship and religious practices, and their personal preferences like characteristics of partner and language used in communication. According to the objectives, the questionnaire was divided into three parts, Part I asked about demography, Part II asked about the characteristics of relationship, limitations, prohibitions and family acceptance and awareness, and Part III asked about academic performance. The results show that the respondents are emotionally mature and capable of handling personal matters and academic pressures simultaneously. They are well-sustained and supported by their parents who are open-minded and lenient professionals. They come from far away municipalities which is their reason for staying in the dormitory. Romantic relationships among college students do not hinder them from excelling academically unlike other people’s perception.
