Abstract
This study investigated the basic demographic features of the Children In Conflict with the Law (CICL) who were detained in Dalayunan Home for Boys, Iloilo City. It also surveyed their schooling, visitors while detained, view of life, usual vices, sports preference, and their innate or acquired talent. It also inquired about their inspiration in starting a new life. These questions were answered through a 20-point questionnaire orally administered to the respondents. All of the 15 detainees on November 26, 2013 participated in the research. The results show that most CICLs are 17 years old. They are elementary undergraduates, yet, positively looking forward to pursuing their education again. Most come from a family who earns Php 5,000 and below and whose mothers are high school undergraduates and whose fathers are high school graduates. Most of them usually smoke. Most of them are proficient in Hiligaynon, and finally, most of them are looking up to God. In conclusion, the CICLs detained in Dalayunan Home for Boys are young males who come from parents of low education and are very poor. Although they rebelled against the law, their relationships with their parents are still intact. They are very optimistic about pursuing their education. They respect and obey people older than them and they are very docile. The kind of behavior they manifested only shows that they have chances to renew their lives again.
