Abstract
The study Paulo Coelho’s Brida and Eleven Minutes: A Content Analysis used the two novels of Paulo Coehlo namely: Brida and Eleven Minutes. Brida was published by Harper Collins Publishers and copyright in 2008. Eleven Minutes was published by Harper Collins Publishers and was copyright in 2004. The content of the novels, Brida and Eleven Minutes were analyzed based on the characters, setting, and differentiation of the content presentation. Based on the results of the analysis in Brida, it was revealed that in terms of characters they only exist in the reader’s mind, they were more powerful. On the other hand the characters in Eleven Minutes are said to be more realistic for their qualities are found in the real world. In terms of setting it was found out that most of the setting in Brida happened in different places like the Forest, Brida’s apartment, and Wicca’s apartment. While Eleven Minutes, most of its setting happened also in different places, Rue de Berne (Copacabana), Ralf Hart's House, and the Hotel. The two novels differ in terms of character portrayals, setting and the use of slang language. Through the results of the study, it has been recommended that Paulo Coelho’s novels could be a good literary piece for analysis intended in any literature or language studies.
