Abstract
The Computerized Project Cost Estimation System (COMPROCES) is the most ultimate response of a group of student researchers from the College of Computer Studies, Central Philippine University to the perennial problems encountered with the manual system at the University Shop. With the COMPROCES, the University Shop staff can readily perform project cost estimation, save project reports instantly for future reference, keep track on available construction materials on site, and ensure data integrity of the encoded data in just a click away. Thus, operations are streamlined in minutes than days, saving both in time and cost and promoting efficiency to the University.
The COMPROCES is made possible through the use of the spiral model for system development, considering the features found in existing project cost estimation software like Software Estimation System (SEM), Estimate Master, and ESTM8 Construction Estimating Software. On the other hand, system implementation was carried out with Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack-2, Microsoft.Net Framework 2.0, and Microsoft SQL Server 2005.
While it is highly certain that problems and concerns with the manual system at the University Shop are reduced through the installation of COMPROCES, its proponents strongly encouraged future researchers to look into possibilities of maximizing its use given the available technology like the internet.
