Hair Pro Salon is a service-oriented business that focuses on hair, nail, make-up beauty and customer’s well being. It was established in February 2009 and work on manual operations, which is managed by Mrs. Perla Deocampo. Manual operations are practical solutions to any business, likewise to salon business. These manual operations cover inventory, monitoring of services or journalizing, commission disbursement and basic accounting. Although these manual operations are stable procedures, yet this still lacks integrity and independency. This may result to misleading of reports and redundant records. As basis for the design and concept of the system, we reviewed existing software to guide us in terms of formulating solutions for the identified problems. Two of the related software are: the Iris Salon Management Software, Salon 11 -Management and Inventory Software for Hair and Nail Salons. In developing the system for Hair Pro Salon, Iterative and Incremental Development Life Cycle model was used. This model was chosen for it allowed us to perform phases repeatedly specifically in the analysis, design and implementation phase. It allowed us to constantly interact with users to acquire feedback regarding the design of the system. In implementing the design of the system, the group made use of the following software: Microsoft SQL server 2003 as the database back-end and Microsoft Visual Basic Version 6 for the front end. The overall system objective is to develop a Management Information System for Hair Pro Salon to replace the manual operations in order to provide a tool for the client in managing the business. The group concludes that the system has effectively solved the problems on the manual operations. One of the features of the system was to efficiently monitor inventory of products and services, effective storage of data, automation on commission and report generation. The group also recommends expanding the software to a web application and incorporates the complete accounting module.en_US
