Computer aided tutorial for hearing impaired
Abstract
Computer technology today is now rapidly evolving. People are exposed to computer hype, computer advertisements and computer headlines. Most people use computers at home and at work for faster and easy completion of requirements. Personal Computer is not a new tool to most undergraduate students for they themselves have computer subjects in their school.
SPED - ISEC (Special Education - Integration School for Exceptional Children) together with College of Computer Studies and in partnership of College of Arts and Sciences and Cultural Affairs Office of Central Philippine University conducted a computer literacy program. This help hearing impaired students to improve their knowledge and skills in computer fundamentals.
The study aimed is to make a user friendly computer tutorial for hearing impaired students. The group created a screen layout of video clips for sign language interpretation and flash presentation for demonstration of the instructions and procedures. There was also an audio for non - hearing impaired individuals. It provided an animated lessons on different topics of tutorials in computer like booting the computer, mouse clicking and dragging, keyboard lesson and Microsoft Word applications.
