The problem. The keen competition of modern life demands young men possessed with the necessary talent to lead the community toward a better life for all its citizens. Training for leadership can best be done in higher institutions of learning like the colleges and universities which equip men with the necessary knowledge and skills in various fields of human endeavor. Records of the Bureau of Private Schools show that even poor and small provinces like Romblon, Tablas, and Marinduque have schools offering courses of the college level. Distinction and honor should be accorded to those groups of enterprising men who endeavored to establish a college in their province with a view to giving the poor and the average families a chance to acquire training that would be beneficial to themselves and to their country. Antique is a province deserving more attention. An investigation is needed to discover the necessity and possibility of establishing a college that will meet the educational needs and problems of the province. A knowledge of the province and the people should serve as a foundation for a real participation in the activities that make for her glory and prosperity, health gained honestly contributes to the prosperity and well-being of the nation. In the province of Antique are needed more men and women who are trained to engage in commercial, industrial, and agricultural pursuits so necessary to the building up of the province. Therefore, this study of the need for a college in Antique involves the following problems: 1. A survey of the general need for a junior college in Antique. 2. A study of the possibilities of a good school in the province. 3. A survey of the number of students that might enroll in a college in Antique if one is established. 4. A study of the opinions of high government officials, high school teachers and parents regarding the need for the college. 5. A survey of economic needs in the province as a guide to possible courses to be offered.en_US
