Abstract
This study was conducted primarily to examine the level of knowledge and extent of compliance to RA 10742 (Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015) among SK Chairpersons in the Municipality of Cabatuan, Iloilo. It is also aimed to generate recommendation to the respective agencies in crafting guidelines/policies intended for the Sangguniang Kabataan operations for an effective, efficient, and adequate delivery of services in the community. This study further examined whether there exist a relationship between the respondent’s demographic profile and their level of knowledge, as well as their extent of compliance to RA 10742. This study is a descriptive-correlational research. The respondents of the study were the sixty eight (68) SK Chairpersons. Thus, the researcher is one of the SK Chairperson, only sixty seven (67) as the number of population target were able to participate in this study. It utilized the survey method to gather data using a researcher-constructed instrument. The data was analysed using SPSS. Mean and Frequency Distribution were used to describe the characteristics of the respondents in terms of descriptive variables. Mean difference and standard deviation were used to determine the difference between variables. Gamma tests, coefficient variation, and Pearson-r were utilized to determine the relationships between variables. The results showed that there was no relationship between level of knowledge and extent of compliance to RA 10742 among the SK Chairpersons of the municipality of Cabatuan, Iloilo. Thus it could not be the poor knowledge of the law that contributed to its low compliance. Programs and/ or projects that intend to increase knowledge of the SK Chairpersons about the SK Reform Act do not have bearing to their compliance to the administrative provisions of the law. It was recommended that another study will be conducted to explore and examine other possible causes of low compliance to the provisions of R.A. 10742 by the SKs of Cabatuan, Iloilo and how to improve it.
