dc.description.abstract | This study was conducted to determine the overall proficiency of mechanics of writing which includes spelling, punctuation, subject-verb agreement, capitalization, and word choice and to develop a module based on the results to enhance the writing proficiency of the learners, especially on the writing conventions. The respondents of this study were the Grade 10 students of the selected private schools in Iloilo City in the academic year 2019-2020. Ten percent of each of the total population of the selected private schools with a total of 62 respondents participated in the study. The Input-Process- Output (IPO) Model, a model commonly used in action research where intervention or solution is necessary to solve the identified problem was adapted. Quantitative approach was used to determine the proficiency of the students on the mechanics of writing. The study revealed that the overall proficiency on mechanics of writing of the Grade 10 in selected private schools in Iloilo City is “Developing,” which means that the student at this level possesses minimum knowledge and skills and core understanding, and needs help throughout the performance of authentic tasks. Thus, a module was developed to enhance the learners’ level of proficiency. | en_US |
