dc.description.abstract | This descriptive-correlational research was conducted to determine the influence of empowerment on the job satisfaction of nurse managers in selected hospitals in Iloilo. Specifically, this study aimed to determine the empowerment and job satisfaction among nurse managers. It also sought to determine the relationship between the personal characteristics of nurse managers and their empowerment and job satisfaction. And lastly, to determine if there is a relationship between empowerment and job satisfaction of nurse managers. This utilized a one-shot survey design that involved 61 nurse managers employed at the target hospitals. An adapted questionnaires was used to collect the needed data. Permission to conduct the study was secured from the Hospital Directors and Nursing Service Directors. The respondents were informed about their involvement and that their participation is voluntary. After the retrieval of questionnaires, they were subjected to statistical analysis. Data were processed using SPSS. Findings revealed that majority of the nurse managers in this study were older and nursing is still a female dominate profession. They were mostly assigned in the ward. Most of them are in service for more than 11 years. Most nurse managers perceived that they are empowered. However, higher proportion also of nurse managers are dissatisfied in their job. The personal characteristics of the nurse managers in terms of age, sex, area of assignment and length in service were not related to their level of empowerment and job satisfaction.
