dc.description.abstractThis descriptive relational study was conducted to determine the preparedness of senior student nurses to deliver spiritual; care in a private institution in Iloilo City and the influence of exposure to role models in spiritual nursing care, the extent of their spirituality, their level of knowledge about spiritual nursing care and their attitude towards spiritual nursing care and the relationship these variables. Specifically, it tried to determine the level of exposure of the respondents to actual role models on spiritual nursing care; to determine the extent of their spirituality; to determine the level of their knowledge about spiritual nursing care; to determine their attitude towards spiritual nursing care; as well as their level of preparedness to deliver spiritual nursing care. It also sought to determine the relationship between their exposure to role models and their attitude towards spiritual nursing care. Furthermore, it also tried to determine the relationship between the extents of spirituality to their level of preparedness to deliver spiritual nursing care. It also sought to determine the relationship between their level of knowledge and their attitude towards spiritual nursing care; their level of knowledge and their level of preparedness to deliver spiritual nursing care. Furthermore, it also tried to determine the relationship between their attitude and their preparedness to deliver spiritual nursing care. The study involved 155 fourth year male and female nursing students of a private institution of Iloilo City. The data gathering instrument used for this study was a researcher made questionnaire and the analysis of data involved the use of both descriptive and inferential statistical tools. Findings of this study revealed that majority of the respondents had only a moderate exposure to role models offering spiritual care, but that they have strong extent of spirituality, a hundred percent of them believed that knowledge about spiritual nursing care is essential to total nursing care, and a vast of majority of them had a favorable attitude towards spiritual nursing care. Majority of them were also highly prepared to deliver spiritual nursing care. Only the respondents’ level of exposure to role models and the extent of their spirituality were significantly related to their level of preparedness to deliver spiritual nursing care; while their level of exposure to role models to role models, their extent of spirituality, and their level of knowledge were not significantly related to their attitude towards nursing care; with regard to the respondents level of knowledge and their attitude towards nursing care, it was found to have no influence in their level of preparedness to deliver spiritual nursing care.en_US
