dc.description.abstract | Iloilo City Slaughterhouse is the current subject of pollution complaints in Iloilo City particularly its wastewater discharges to Iloilo River which carries high pollution load. In connection with this, an audit to the entire area and slaughtering operation of Iloilo City Slaughterhouse was undertaken resulting to a formulation of “Waste Minimization Processes” which could help decrease the pollution load of wastewater directly discharged to Iloilo River. The recommended waste minimization processes are classified into three categories. The first are those that could be easily implemented by the management since it will only involve minimum amount of money and it can be done without hiring additional manpower. The second will have to involve the decision of the Iloilo City Officials since it involve the construction of additional wastewater facility for the treatment of wastewater before discharging to the river. The third will not only involve decision making but also careful planning on the part of Slaughterhouse Management and City Officials since it will involve re-construction of the slaughterhouse building. With the implementation of this waste minimization processes, it is expected that the wastewater or the effluent discharge of Iloilo City Slaughterhouse shall pass the Effluent Standards of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. | en_US |
