dc.description.abstract | Violence and other forms of abuse are most commonly understood as a pattern of behavior intended to establish and maintain control over family, household members, intimate partners, colleagues, individuals or groups. This study is conducted to analyze selected Supreme Court rulings applying RA 9262 and its implication on Domestic Violence. The aspects looked into were jurisprudence citing the law, the reasons/ justification of the Supreme Court and the effectiveness of RA 9262 in minimizing domestic violence from the time it took effect up to the present. The focus was the experience of women and children as victims of abuse. The five selected Supreme Court decided cases regarding RA 9262 were the subjects of the study. Content analysis was the Research Design used and the cases were examined, studied and analyzed based on applicable law and jurisprudence. In this study, the number of cases of domestic violence increase since RA 9262 took effect. This is because women now are more aware of their rights under the law and cases were reported and recorded in Philippine National Police. It is highly recommended to implement the Anti VAWC Law by instituting programs and policies that are guided with thorough research and analysis. The assigned government agencies and institutions must exercise extraordinary diligence to forestall, inquire and in accordance with the law, castigate acts of intimate partner violence against women and their children and give programs of restoration for the victim survivors. | en_US |
