dc.description.abstract | This study assessed the implementation of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in the Selected Municipalities in the Province of Aklan. The 4Ps is a poverty reduction scheme which provides cash grants to poor households to improve their health, nutrition and education. However, a report found critical problems in the implementation of the program, including a decline in beneficiaries in 2011, billions in unaccounted disbursements, inadequate supervision in household registration and questionable use of funds. Thus, this study was contemplated to assess the implementation of 4Ps as well as to provide legislative proposals in its implementation. The non-experimental method, particularly the descriptive qualitative design or content analysis was used in this study to elicit a candid yet honest answer from the respondents in assessing the implementation and in validating the need and insistence toward improvements and legislative proposals. Several issues in the implementation such as the determination of the beneficiaries and political influences were identified as factors in the effectiveness of the program. Furthermore, there is a need to institutionalize 4Ps through a law and to incorporate therein the proposals addressing the currents problems in its implementation in order to better achieve its goal of alleviating its beneficiaries from poverty. | en_US |
