Preparedness and employability of Education graduates of Beijing Normal University

Abstract
This descriptive-correlational research determined the level of preparedness of education graduates of Beijing Normal Universities and ascertained its relationship with their employability. Subjects were the education major graduates from SY 2016; 29 undergraduates, 64 masters and 14 Ph.Ds. A survey using a researcher made questionnaire validated and tested for reliability was used to measure students’ level of preparedness and employability specifically on the professional training, communication skills, internship experience and qualifying examination of the graduates. Mean, standard deviation, frequency, percentage, t- test for Independent Samples, One way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Pearson coefficient of correlation were the statistical tools used. Findings revealed that the education graduates of Beijing Normal University as a whole were Moderately Prepared. Majority of the graduates did not reach their best in preparedness. Compared to the other competitors, the education graduates from Beijing Normal University still maintained a good level of preparedness which was favored by most employers. All of the respondents were employed; therefore employability was high. Recommendations were forwarded by the researcher for the improvement of the preparedness and employability of education graduates of Beijing Normal University.
