Résumé
The subject pig farm in Bulacan Province is not an environmentally sound livestock project. Inadequately treated wastewater overflows its wastewater treatment system causing a drop in rice production of the neighboring farms. What necessitate the improvement of the present waste management of the farm are the need to protect the environment from degradation and the necessity to respond to the world-wide call for sustainable development, among others.

By implementing the concept of waste minimization, it is expected that the subject pig farm will become part of the answer to the above-mentioned concerns. The proposed improvements include reducing inefficient water use, installing biogas works, improving the existing wastewater treatment system, and pursuing integrated farming system.

The proposal for the improvement of the waste management of the subject pig farm is technically and financially feasible. Although a capital cost of PHP 2566512 will be required, financial indicators favor the acceptance of this environmental investment.
