Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the awareness and practices of the Alimodian drivers on the Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999. This study employed the one-shot survey design in gathering data from 60 jeepney drivers of Alimodian as respondents using a structured interview schedule. All the data were processed and analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Frequency, percentage distribution and the mean were used as basis for data analysis and interpretation. The jeepney driver respondents were generally between the age of 31 to 50, married, Roman Catholics, high school educated and plain drivers for an average of 13.25 years. All of them were aware and were in favor of the Clean Air Act. Generally, the engines of the jeepneys, all of which are diesel type, are relatively older than the jeepneys. Generally, the respondents have not changed their engines but have overhauled their engine yearly to once every four years. The jeepney drivers change oil at least every month or more and all of them submitted their jeepney for emission testing yearly. Their latest emission testing for their jeepneys was 7 to 9 months ago and all of the jeepneys passed their latest emission testing. They rated their maintenance as fair to good.
